POST-GROWTH 2.0 / Post-processing strategies for mycelium-based materials

In this second edition of the seminar, we will build on the material research developed previously and take it further through more focused experimentation with mycelium-based materials. The course explores how post-processing strategies can influence their surface, texture, appearance, durability, and performance.

Students will work hands-on with mycelium and test selected bio-based glues, coatings, finishes, pigments, and sealers through small-scale, comparable experiments. The focus is on refining techniques, testing variables more systematically, and documenting material behaviour.

The resulting samples will contribute to a collective material system and shared wall structure, expanding the existing archive and demonstrating the potential of mycelium composites for future design applications.

The seminar runs in block sessions, combining intensive workshops with independent experimentation between meetings.
