INDIA: INDEPENDANCE & MODERN ARCHITECTURE

This excursion explores the emergence of modern architecture in India in the context of independence, nation building, and cultural transformation. Traveling from Chandigarh to Ahmedabad and Rann of Kutch in Gujarat, students will engage with key works by Le Corbusier, Louis Kahn, Balkrishna Doshi, and others, while examining the relationship between architecture, climate, society, and identity. The program combines site visits, urban exploration, and a collaborative workshop at CEPT University, offering critical insight into historic architecture, post-colonial modernism and contemporary architectural practice.
