INDIA: INDEPENDENCE & MODERN ARCHITECTURE

This excursion focuses on the lesser-known cities of Chandigarh and Ahmedabad, as well as the desert landscape of the Rann of Kutch in Gujarat, in order to explore India off the beaten track and engage in direct exchange with the local residents.
On site, we will take an in-depth look at key works by Le Corbusier, Louis Kahn, Balkrishna Doshi, and other contemporary architects, gaining deeper insights into historical architecture, postcolonial modernism, and current architectural positions and practices.

The program combines building tours, urban explorations, and a collaborative workshop with Indian architecture students at CEPT University, Ahmedabad, offering in-depth insights into historical architecture, postcolonial modernism, and contemporary architectural practice.
